Privacy Policy
Effective 2 October 2026
- First Pit is a private workspace for FIRST LEGO League teams. What you add is visible only to members of your team.
- We collect only what the app needs to work: your name, email address, and the work your team adds.
- We show no ads, use no analytics or tracking tools, and never sell or rent anyone's information.
- You can ask us to delete your account and its data at any time.
Who we are
First Pit ("First Pit", "we", "us") is a team-management app for FIRST LEGO League teams, made by Tech Titans NC. It is available at www.first-pit.com and as an iPhone app. This policy explains what information First Pit collects, how it is used, and the choices you have.
First Pit is an independent app. It is not affiliated with, sponsored by or endorsed by FIRST® or the LEGO Group.
Information we collect
Account information
- Email address, used to sign in and to send account emails such as address verification and password resets.
- Display name, shown to your teammates.
- Account type you choose at sign-up (coach, mentor, student or parent), which decides whether you can create a team.
- Profile photo link, if you add one, and your app preferences (such as theme and notification settings).
- If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email address and Google account identifier from Google. We do not receive your Google password.
Team membership
The teams you belong to, your role on each team (for example coach, student or parent), and whether your membership is active, pending or suspended.
Content you and your team add
Tasks, subtasks, milestones, questions, answers, comments, polls and votes, and files attached to tasks (such as PDFs and images, up to 10 MB each). Reports you make about content that breaks team rules are also stored.
Records kept for safety and accountability
When someone performs an administrative action, such as sending an invitation, changing a role, suspending a member, moderating content or requesting account deletion, First Pit keeps a record of who did it and when. These records cannot be edited.
What we do not collect
We do not collect your location, contacts, health or financial information, or browsing history. First Pit contains no advertising, analytics, crash-reporting or tracking software, and it does not track you across other apps or websites.
How we use information
We use information only to provide First Pit, specifically to:
- sign you in and keep your account secure;
- show your team its board, milestones, dashboard, knowledge base and files;
- tell you, inside the app, when work is assigned to you or something on your team needs your attention;
- let coaches manage their team, and keep the team safe through reporting, moderation and the records described above;
- respond to your requests, including deletion requests.
We do not use your information for advertising, and we do not sell, rent or trade it.
Who can see your information
- Your team. Members of a team can see that team's content and its member list (names and roles). Nothing you add to one team is visible to another team, and First Pit has no public profiles, public feeds or team directory.
- Coaches can see their team's administrative records, invitations and member status, and can moderate content on their team.
- Service providers. First Pit runs on services operated by other companies, which process data only to run the app for us:
- Google Firebase (Google LLC), for sign-in, the database, file storage and server functions;
- Google Sign-In, if you choose to sign in with Google;
- Vercel Inc., which hosts the First Pit website.
- When the law requires it. We may disclose information if we must do so to comply with the law, or to protect the safety of a child or anyone else.
Children's privacy
Many First Pit users are students under 13. First Pit is designed for teams supervised by adults:
- Students join a team when a coach adds or invites them. The coach is the adult responsible for the team and for getting permission from each student's parent or guardian before adding them.
- We collect from students only what the app needs: a name, an email address, and the team work they add.
- Students cannot create teams. They see only their own team's content, there is no private messaging, and their profiles are never public or searchable.
- Students are never shown ads, and their information is never sold or used for tracking.
Parents and guardians can ask to review their child's information, have it corrected or deleted, or stop any further collection, by contacting us at the address below or through the child's coach. We will verify that the request comes from the child's parent or guardian before acting on it.
Keeping and deleting information
We keep your information for as long as your account is active. You can request deletion of your account in the app, under Profile → Request account deletion, or by emailing us. Because many users are children, a team-safety administrator reviews each deletion request before completing it. We then delete your account and personal information, except where we must keep something to meet a legal obligation or resolve a safety report.
Content you added to a team, such as tasks or answers, belongs to the team's shared work. When your account is deleted, that content may remain available to the team.
Security
All data is sent over encrypted connections. Access to every team's data is checked on our servers, not only in the app, so a team's information is available only to its members. Uploaded files are checked for type and size. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit who can access it.
Your choices
- Update your name, photo and preferences in your profile at any time.
- Leave a team from your profile.
- Request deletion of your account as described above.
- Contact us to ask what information we hold about you.
Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the effective date above. If we make a significant change to how we handle children's information, we will notify coaches before it takes effect.
